Let’s forget the disjointed and cliquey scene we live in\, and bring back what once united us.” \nFinding their musical home in revered label Classic Music Company\, set up by Luke Solomon and Derrick Carter\, releasing alongside the likes of Honey Dijon\, Floorplan\, Seven Davis Jr.\, Isolée\, and the mythical Spencer Kincy aka. Gemini; Girls of the Internet prepare to release their latest album When I Lost\, I Found Myself in July 2024. With Tom bringing together acclaimed British vocalists and songwriters\, previous singles from the project ‘Affirmations’ written by Sophie Faith\, and ‘Never Ever Ever’ featuring shiv and Oscar Jerome\, demonstrate the innate musicality of the project\, with the intention\, “to create beautiful songs within a ‘dance’ or ‘house’ framework.”  \nWith When I Lost\, I Found Myself the follow-up to the acclaimed self-released Girls FM LP\, named one of BBC 6 Music’s Albums of the Year in 2019 and accruing over 12M streams on the project since release\, Girls Of The Internet are an act that have been firmly on the radar of key tastemakers like Gilles Peterson\, Trevor Nelson\, Pete Tong and Lauren Laverne for some time\, and more recently BBC Radio 1’s Clara Amfo\, Jaguar and Sian Eleri. With 2024 also already seeing the release of their remix of legendary artist Moby and A-List producer Anfisa Letyago’s ‘You & Me’ on Defected Records\, Girls Of The Internet continue to demonstrate their sonic diversity with the soulful\, deep house touch on this record.  \nWith the ability to perform as a full live band\, and Tom also a high in demand and adept selector for DJ gigs\, the Girls Of The Internet live experience adds another layer to the group’s offering. Having performed on home turf at Glastonbury\, The Warehouse Project’s Homobloc\, Drumsheds\, Printworks\, Latitude and Lost Village festival\, as well as Ibiza shows at Pikes and Glitterbox at #1 Club in the World Hï\, March 2024 will see the group’s first headline show at the iconic Jazz Cafe in Camden\, supported by Classic label mate Seven Davis Jr. \nCrafting songs with real musicians\, the group’s name was inspired by Ladies of the 80’s by Eighties Ladies\, the album from a girl group produced by Roy Ayers\, “I just loved the whole concept\, and I wanted to do the same thing with Girls of the Internet\,” explains the group’s founding member Tom Kerridge. “I wanted a name that played with gender\, and people’s subconscious misogyny. Girls of the Internet is abstract – it means nothing\, and it means everything.”

DESCRIPTION:Menace were London’s first generation no-nonsense boot boys\, pre-dating Sham 69 and Cockney Rejects who overtook them in terms of mass popularity. \nThey formed in 1976 at the Hope And Anchor in Islington when Webster met the other three members and were soon playing the Roxy. Their high-energy\, unpretentious sets won them few admirers in the inkies e.g. the Press\, but they swiftly built a strong following that brought together both punks and skinheads. They’re often cited as the first to unite this potentially volatile mix. However\, there was nothing premeditated about the audience they attracted. “Sham were more overt in their leanings towards skinheads\,” Martin told me. “We had that crossover thing. We liked that idea.” Partly because most of the band themselves were skinheads in their youth. \nHalf of the band were first generation Irish immigrants. “We were working class lads from around King’s Cross. Charlie and me came over from Ireland when we were about 14. We were both from the Galway area\, but we didn’t actually know each other until we met in England. We were in the same class together\, at St William Of York school\, and being Irish\, there was obviously an immediate connection. Steve Tannett was in the year below us. St William Of York was also John Lydon’s school. When we saw him on TV\, when the punk thing got going\, we couldn’t believe it we knew at school! He didn’t stand out. He wasn’t good at football and he wasn’t one of the tough kids.” Neither Casey nor Martin belonged in the ‘most likely to achieve’ category either. “You automatically became prefects in the fifth form at our school\, and we were the only two that didn’t. Charlie lived round the corner from the school\, so we’d go to his house make lunch and play our guitars. We hooked up with Steve Tannett after leaving school.” We stated in pub rock band Stonehenge in 1975. \nMenace were initially signed to Miles Copeland’s Illegal Records and made their debut single in August 1977 with ‘Screwed Up’ backed by ‘Insane Society’. Charlie Harper of the UK Subs bought the very first copy when he bumped into Martin picking up the first box of singles from Copeland’s office. It was good\, honest\, working class sloganeering (“If we’re the working class/Why ain’t we got jobs?”) and more musically adept than you might imagine. Sniffing Glue trumpeted that they “are the best punk band in England today!” after witnessing some highly charged early shows at venues such as the Vortex and Hope And Anchor.

The first single released from Erja’s latest studio offering\, Bad Seed was chosen as the 13th Best Rock Song of the year by Classic Rock Magazine. Furthermore\, Lyytinen’s guitar solo from “Bad Seed” reached 10th place in Guitar World’s Best guitar solo of 2022 reader’s poll.  \nLyytinen has been acknowledged for her work by her fans\, peers\, and the industry alike with a treasure trove of accolades. This includes being ranked #2 on Total Guitar Magazine’s “10 Best Guitarists Now” poll as well as being awarded “Best Guitarist” at the 2017 European Blues Awards.

DESCRIPTION:HotWax are a band set on experiencing life at its most intense. In the past two years\, the Hastings-via-Brighton trio – comprising Tallulah Sim-Savage (vocals/guitar)\, Lola Sam (bass)\, and Alfie Sayers (drums) – have toured extensively\, including shows with and \, and festival appearances at Reading & Leeds and All Points East. Out of this comes debut album Hot Shock (due March 7 via Marathon Artists)\, a record of adrenaline-jolted anthems about abandoning fear and leaping towards the future. \nThe band recorded live at London’s RAK Studios\, perfectly capturing the ‘explosion of colour’ energy of a HotWax show. The band worked with an all-female production team\, Catherine Marks (\, ) and Steph Marziano (\, )\, with additional recording in Joshua Tree\, California. \nSim-Savage recalls how Marks was drawn to HotWax after an intimate gig at the Blue Basement in July 2023. “It was the sweatiest gig we’ve ever done – packed\,” she says. “Afterwards\, Catherine said\, ‘I need to record your album. It needs to feel like a party.’” \nThese songs were made to be played loud and with abandon\, but also have a vulnerable pulse underscoring them. It’s this balance that could propel HotWax to become the UK’s next big crossover rock act.
