DESCRIPTION:Amphitrio is a contemporary jazz trio project initiated in 2020\, when the three members had the\nopportunity to materialise their musical plans in great synergy. Pianist and composer Andrei\nPetrache\, bassist Mike Alex and percussionist Philip Goron\, form a trio with a solid background\nin classical and alternative music. The story behind this composition speaks of close friendships and the pleasure of playing and\nimprovising in a well-welded formula\, despite the fact that each of the three activates in multiple\nother projects simultaneously.\nTheir repertoire contains original pieces written by Andrei Petrache in a genre area of modern\njazz with influences from Nordic contemporary jazz and Balkan-oriental colours.\nWith the release of their two debut albums\, “Points” and “Seasons” (2023)\, Amphitrio began to\nexplore more and more sub-genres of the electro-groove area\, continuing to expand their creative\nhorizons.\nUntil now\, the three have performed as Andrei Petrache Trio at festivals such as Jazz in the Park\n(2022\, 2023)\, Sepsi Jazz&Blues Festival (2022)\, JazzX (2023)\, Oradea Festifall (2023)\,\nJazzCave (2023) and have held many other jazz concerts\, both in Bucharest and in the country.\nThe trio’s most recent achievement is winning the Best Composition award at the Jazz in the\nPark Competition (2023).

The band continued exploring new sonic territory with the emotionally rich two-part album ‘Slush Honey’ released throughout 2022 and 2023. \nBuilding on two sold-out Australian tours and over 48M streams in 2023\, the band had an even bigger 2024. They reached new heights by selling out their debut UK tour\, and upon their return to NZ\, they completed their third studio album ‘Scatterbrains’. The record marked a shift – stepping into darker\, more introspective spaces\, tying up loose ends and acknowledging life’s storms. Singles like ‘Tastes Like Forever’ and ‘Sunday Stitches’ climbed the NZ charts\, resonating deeply with fans for their emotional honesty and sonic richness. \nMoving to Sydney in late 2025\, Daily J then released a deluxe edition of ‘Scatterbrains’\, which landed them fans across US college radio\, with both singles and the EP hitting the NACC charts.
