The Melbourne-based trio meld hazy psychedelia with heavy stoner riffs and a penchant for progressive rhythms and almost dirge-like crescendos. Their songs are deeply evocative\, often exuding strong visceral reactions fluctuating from a sense of haunting melancholy to immense empyreal awe. Vocally\, they waver from ethereal falsetto and hypnotic crooning to impassioned wailing punctuated by occasional guttural screams. Khan released their critically acclaimed fourth studio album\, ‘That Fair and Warlike Form // Return to Dust’\, in October 2025 through Full Contact Safari Records. It is a concept album comprised of two 23-minute songs that explore the suffering of a man possessed by the spirit of the god of death\, Erlik (Turkic/Mongolian mythology). The band are very excited to share their new album live with European audiences on their upcoming tour for the first time since its release. They’ll be joined for their first ever show in Glasgow at Nice N Sleazy by fellow Australian post-metal trio Skin Thief. \nHeavy instrumental trio Skin Thief play a progressive style of post-metal. Featuring grinding bass heavy riffs with chopped rhythms that drop into brooding hypnotic atmospherics. The songs twist through introspective soundscapes that often coalesce into explosive crescendos. Their latest album ‘Frozen in the Act of Breaking’ was released in 2025 through Full Contact Safari Records followed by an Australian tour supporting Khan. This will be their first time touring Europe.

It takes Welsh mythological figures as guides through collective grief and transformation — a fierce anti-war\, anti-fascist statement. \nLive\, the duo work as much with light\, movement and silence as with sound. The result is closer to performance art than to a conventional gig: a single unbroken arc\, held without pause\, in which the audience is not an observer but a participant.

SUMMARY:BASEMENT GIG - KATHRYN MOHR
DESCRIPTION:Carve is the second full-length by Bay Area artist Kathryn Mohr. Written over the course of five years and recorded over several weeks in a rural singlewide in the Mojave Desert\, the album centers on love experienced as a form of grief\, not as an aftermath of loss\, but as a condition of intimacy itself. \nMohr describes Carve as an album about how memory exists outside the body\, embedded in places and landscapes. It is shaped by her first return to the American Southwest since a childhood road trip at age five\, and by the experience of moving through terrain that holds emotional weight long after its origins fade. The record considers how intimacy feels after years of isolation\, and what it takes to carve out a life that allows for trust\, presence\, and feeling rather than mere survival. \nThe project took form after a difficult tour that ended in Joshua Tree. Mohr pointed her car into the desert and drove alone\, crisscrossing the Mojave on dirt roads. Months later\, she returned to record the album\, working alone with an acoustic guitar\, a field recorder\, and limited supplies.\nFollowing that period\, Mohr began to allow for intimacy and connection. The time she spent recording Carve in the desert did not create isolation so much as mirror it. Working alone out of an old\, western-themed jail Airbnb\, the physical enclosure reflected the emotional conditions under which much of the record had been written: distance\, restraint\, and long stretches of stillness. In that context\, love was not experienced as escape\, but as something inseparable from impermanence and the awareness of loss. This tension between connection and inevitability sits at the center of Carve. \nSome of the album’s songs were written earlier\, during a prolonged period marked by emotional distance and apathy. Over those four years\, Mohr was working through unprocessed childhood memories and their long-term effects on her ability to connect with others. The work was slow and difficult\, involving a fundamental reshaping of how she related to herself and to the world.

DESCRIPTION:Experimental indie rock band kick off their UK tour with a headline show at Nice N Sleazy. Support from Marceline & Before Stories. \nPeter Cat are a cinematic rock band from Glasgow\, whose music crackles with a dark and fierce intent. Combining art rock arrangements\, surreal lyricism\, and an arch vocal delivery\, their signature sound is at turns both playful and apocalyptic (sometimes both at once). It’s as if Pulp and King Crimson got involved in a mild fender-bender on the M1 – and neither had insurance. \nThe band signed with “East Anglia’s premier record label”\, Trapped Animal\, in late 2025 to release their sophomore LP\, ‘Starchamber’ – an ambitious epic combining prog\, art punk and lo-fi electronica that earned them praise from MOJO\, Record Collector\, and the Bandcamp global homepage. \nNot an act to rest on their laurels (or anyone else’s)\, Peter Cat are back a mere 7 months later with ‘Innocent Driver’\, a razor-sharp track that’s already received support from BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing in Scotland. Peter Cat are looking forward to a 12-date UK tour in late 2026 – their biggest yet. \nSupport comes from local art rock act Marceline\, new to the Glasgow scene and fresh off their debut EP In Spite of Time\, which The Progressive Subway described as the sound of a band “on the road to bigger and better things”. \nFurther support courtesy of Aberdeen’s Before Stories\, who have been delivering lowkey miserabilist minimalist bangers since 2015. Self-described as “one man in a suit shouting about things we don’t like\, while another man with nice trainers does the bare minimum of music we can get away with…and still call it a song.”
