DESCRIPTION:Carve is the second full-length by Bay Area artist Kathryn Mohr. Written over the course of five years and recorded over several weeks in a rural singlewide in the Mojave Desert\, the album centers on love experienced as a form of grief\, not as an aftermath of loss\, but as a condition of intimacy itself. \nMohr describes Carve as an album about how memory exists outside the body\, embedded in places and landscapes. It is shaped by her first return to the American Southwest since a childhood road trip at age five\, and by the experience of moving through terrain that holds emotional weight long after its origins fade. The record considers how intimacy feels after years of isolation\, and what it takes to carve out a life that allows for trust\, presence\, and feeling rather than mere survival. \nThe project took form after a difficult tour that ended in Joshua Tree. Mohr pointed her car into the desert and drove alone\, crisscrossing the Mojave on dirt roads. Months later\, she returned to record the album\, working alone with an acoustic guitar\, a field recorder\, and limited supplies.\nFollowing that period\, Mohr began to allow for intimacy and connection. The time she spent recording Carve in the desert did not create isolation so much as mirror it. Working alone out of an old\, western-themed jail Airbnb\, the physical enclosure reflected the emotional conditions under which much of the record had been written: distance\, restraint\, and long stretches of stillness. In that context\, love was not experienced as escape\, but as something inseparable from impermanence and the awareness of loss. This tension between connection and inevitability sits at the center of Carve. \nSome of the album’s songs were written earlier\, during a prolonged period marked by emotional distance and apathy. Over those four years\, Mohr was working through unprocessed childhood memories and their long-term effects on her ability to connect with others. The work was slow and difficult\, involving a fundamental reshaping of how she related to herself and to the world.

Combining art rock arrangements\, surreal lyricism\, and an arch vocal delivery\, their signature sound is at turns both playful and apocalyptic (sometimes both at once). It’s as if Pulp and King Crimson got involved in a mild fender-bender on the M1 – and neither had insurance. \nThe band signed with “East Anglia’s premier record label”\, Trapped Animal\, in late 2025 to release their sophomore LP\, ‘Starchamber’ – an ambitious epic combining prog\, art punk and lo-fi electronica that earned them praise from MOJO\, Record Collector\, and the Bandcamp global homepage. \nNot an act to rest on their laurels (or anyone else’s)\, Peter Cat are back a mere 7 months later with ‘Innocent Driver’\, a razor-sharp track that’s already received support from BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing in Scotland. Peter Cat are looking forward to a 12-date UK tour in late 2026 – their biggest yet. \nSupport comes from local art rock act Marceline\, new to the Glasgow scene and fresh off their debut EP In Spite of Time\, which The Progressive Subway described as the sound of a band “on the road to bigger and better things”. \nFurther support courtesy of Aberdeen’s Before Stories\, who have been delivering lowkey miserabilist minimalist bangers since 2015. Self-described as “one man in a suit shouting about things we don’t like\, while another man with nice trainers does the bare minimum of music we can get away with…and still call it a song.”

With an electro-organic pop sound recalling Bon Iver and Beth Orton \, her music career quickly began to show some promise. On the basis of singles like the sweeping “Can We Work It Out” and a unique reframing Courtney Barnett of ‘s “Avant Gardener\,” she signed a deal with American label Jagjaguwar in late 2015\, while chipping away at her medical studies. Her debut EP\, Clever Disguise\, was released in the US in the spring of 2016. Gordi delivered her debut full-length\, Reservoir\, in the summer of 2017. A true collaborator\, the full length was produced with Tim Anderson\, Ali Chant and Alex Somers and finished off in Eau Claire\, Wisconsin.

DESCRIPTION:Formed in 2022\, The Sewing Club are Hannah McElroy (guitar\, vocals)\, Stephen Meaux (guitar\, bass)\, Justin Mckinney (guitar)\, Zach McCoy (drums\, vocals). An alternative/rock project at its core\, The Sewing Club began in the basements of their friend’s houses in Nashville\, TN. They’ve completed tours opening for acts like Chokecherry and Arlie across the entire US\, played SXSW\, and shared the stage with acts like Protomartyr\, fanclubwallet\, Otoboke Beaver\, Soccer Mommy\, Horse Jumper of Love\, Lowertown\, Deeper\, etc.   \nThis past fall\, the band released their debut EP “Care” recorded and mixed by Calvin Lauber (Julien Baker)\, Alex Farrar (Wednesday)\, and Henry Stoehr of Slow Pulp. Their debut album is set to release Spring 2026 via Born Loser Records. The Sewing Club is grungy pop that’s sure to get stuck in your head.
