DESCRIPTION:Honey\, a 5-piece indie-jazz rock group comprised of a stereotypically cocky singer\,a lead guitarist worse than the rhythm guitarist\, an angel of a rhythm guitarist\, a handsome young bassist\, and a sweet little drummer boy. As long as you don’t refer to them as a boy band\, you’d be right to assume they are Glasgow’s biggest losers. \nScottish band\, Midnight Alleys have been championed by the likes of Steve Lamacq (BBC 6)\, Vic Galloway (BBC Scot) and Billy Sloan\, to name a few.\nWith their current sound sitting somewhere between Orange Juice\, Bob Dylan and The Libertines\, the band have a new album in the pipeline for 2024 along with shows and festival slots around the country. Their latest single ‘It’s You!is out now!\nTheir current line up consists of Neil Morrison (Vocals/Guitar/Harmonica)\, Steven Ross (Lead Guitar/Vocals)\, Corrie Barrow (Bass) and Ali Ferguson (Drums/Vocals) Their full back catalogue contains2022’s highly anticipated album ‘Are You NobodyToo?’ alongside a handful of stand alone singles.\nSince their origin\, they have played with the likes of Declan Welsh\, The Wedding Present\, Matt Hollywood (Ex Brian Jonestown Massacre)\, Goodbye Mr Mackenzie and Spyres. \nBorn out of the desire to do something more\, The Sun Day is a glowing collective pioneering new things in indie-rock.\nComprised of frontman Connor Ritchie on vocals and rhythm guitar\, Luke Doyle on lead guitar\, Aidan Forret on bass and Craig Spink on drums\, the young quartet brand their sound with a balance of melancholic nostalgia and fiery determination\, allowing them to playlist any mood. Their performances consistently leave audiences feeling uplifted and inspired. These two musicians are dedicated to breathing new life into ancient melodies for the contemporary world. With deep respect for their shared heritage\, they bridge the gap between tradition and innovation\, infusing ancestral melodies with modern production techniques and instruments. \nTheir unique setup\, featuring a drum kit\, saxophone\, and organ foot pedals\, combined with expert sound design\, results in music that’s both vibrant and firmly rooted. Norman and Corrie are immersed in the folk and jazz scene\, Corrie performing with Dinosaur\, Jacob Collier\, and Rob Luft\, and Norman working with The Peatbog Faeries and Beth Orton. Together\, they bring to life a project that reflects their shared Scottish identity. As ECM recording artist Huw Warren notes: “Their sound is enticing and thoughtfully matches the content\, offering a new form from separate musical styles.” \nWhile challenging traditional notions of folk music\, Norman&Corrie hold dear the qualities that have made this genre timeless: honesty\, resilience\, and a deep connection to life’s stories. With diverse backgrounds and a spirit of exploration\, their performances transport listeners to a time when life moved at a slower\, more deliberate pace\, using drones\, ancestral melodies\, and field recordings to create an immersive experience. In a significant milestone\, they’ve received support from Creative Scotland to establish a residence in Shetland\, where they’ll learn from tradition-bearers and explore archives of scores and recordings.
